Another Reason to Celebrate

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! One of the last times I blogged to you all it was to share the exciting Alternative Gift Markets that Plant With Purpose was involved in. This year, over 40 churches around the country invited members of their congregation to celebrate Christmas by giving gifts that would give back. The term ‘Alternative Gift Market’ just means a marketplace where people can make donations toward causes they are passionate about and then give a gift card to their loved ones rather than the traditional necktie or comfy sock set. This year, Plant With Purpose offered items like bunnies, chickens, trees, stoves, and more as gifts available for purchase. Through these partnerships and events Plant With Purpose raised well over $30,000 to go directly toward building up rural communities and helping families to support themselves in ways never before possible!

Yesterday I received an email from one of those church partners who hosted a five-week long alternative gift market for Plant With Purpose. Their church is in Houston and is called Access. They currently sponsor Plant With Purpose’s work in a community called Ashira in Tanzania and have even taken on other opportunities to promote and support Plant With Purpose. I must say, I am so encouraged by the enthusiasm and ingenuity that Access used to further our ministry through their own community.  Check out the creativity that Access used to make a great looking Plant With Purpose table at their church. If your church hosted a market as well, we’d love to see some pictures!
