Look out, it’s April!

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate the arrival of spring, from the thawing of winter to blooming flowers and new growth. April includes some of our favorite holidays here at Plant With Purpose. Earth Month is worth celebrating and we want you to join us!

What’s coming up?

  • Earth Day is April 22nd. If you live in San Diego, join Plant With Purpose at the world’s largest annual environmental fair: Balboa Park’s Earth Day Celebration on April 21!
  • Following Earth Day, Arbor Day on April 26 celebrates the life-giving contribution of trees by encouraging people to get outside and plant.
  • The Worldwatch Institute will launch State of the World 2013. The institute’s annual report explores current environmental challenges around the globe. This edition includes an article by Plant With Purpose’s Doug Satre.

Each week on the blog we’ll post relevant and creative ways to cultivate earth-friendly habits and advocate Creation Care. You can look forward to “how-to’s,” project ideas, and even a giveaway. Check in often and keep in contact via Facebook and Twitter for the newest updates! Spring has sprung, and Earth Month offers an even better reason to start sustainable habits, educate ourselves, and turn over a new leaf. (Sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves…)

To kick everything off, check out this short film and consider the biblical mandate to steward our earth. Our Father’s World interviews scholars, authors, and speakers (including PWP Executive Director Scott Sabin) in a thoughtful exploration of what it means to be “caretakers of the garden.”
