New Adventures…

One of my favorite memories from my three years at Plant With Purpose is when I co-led a vision trip to Oaxaca, Mexico last spring. We had a dynamite group of 10 women from the River Church in Palos Verdes. It was incredible to meet the farmers whose life-changing experiences I had been blogging and writing about in our newsletter and blogs, and as a team we all experienced God working through our trip to form lasting and meaningful relationships.

During our time there, we had the opportunity to work side by side with farmers in the community of Rio Garza, planting tomato seeds. One by one we shuffled into a steamy greenhouse lined with neat rows of compost and dirt. We crouched down and each dug a shallow hole, then deposited tiny tomato seeds.

Recently, I was thrilled to hear that those seeds have blossomed into towering plants, bursting with ripe tomatoes. They are now being harvested to sell in the market, and the community will also keep some to provide nutrient-rich tomatoes (and salsa!) for their families.

I’m in a very reflective mood right now as, sadly, this is my last week as part of the Plant With Purpose staff. My husband and I will be moving to Richmond, Virginia mid-November to start new careers, Jake as a JAG officer for the army and myself as a Marketing Specialist with ChildFund International.

This is a very exciting opportunity for Jake and I and we’re looking forward to this new adventure! I would appreciate your prayers as we begin our new life on the east coast.

It has been a privilege working for such an incredible, faith-based organization. I will miss working with the gala committee, our fabulous interns, and my co-workers. You may see me blogging from time to time, and if you know of anyone on the east coast who may be interested in Plant With Purpose’s work let me know!

Signing off,

Kate Nare, aka Gala Chair Extraordinaire and Marketing Coordinator 🙂

P.S. Plant With Purpose is in the process of looking for a Marketing and Events Coordinator to oversee the gala and coordinate our marketing and PR campaigns. Visit our website for more details:
