Erica GearyPlease give a warm welcome to one of the newest faces at the Plant With Purpose office. Erica Geary is our new PR and Events Intern for the fall semester. We are so excited to have her here.

Learn more about Erica below:

“Plant With Purpose caught my eye a few months back and I knew I had to do everything I could to get involved in some way with the organization.  As a Spanish major at Azusa Pacific University, I had multiple opportunities to study and live abroad and see first-hand the effects of deforestation among the rural poor.  While living in Chamil, Guatemala I witnessed the fragile balance the Mayan people live with the land and the struggles they face, as it no longer produces like it used to.  I was asked over and over to help but felt helpless, as I was one person facing a daunting problem.  My hope was renewed when I heard that Plant With Purpose was fighting poverty at its roots by reversing deforestation around the globe.

I am also passionate about social justice, learning languages, and learning about other cultures and ways of life.  I love expanding my worldview through travel and meeting others from different backgrounds.  I am dedicated to leading a compassionate lifestyle and growing as a global citizen.  I am excited to be at Plant With Purpose because I believe in what we do and I believe that every human being deserves to live a life of dignity.  The work we do around the globe not only helps lift communities out of poverty but also values human life and the ability to create positive change.”

Welcome, Erica!
