Dear Friends,

As we prepare this month to celebrate the coming of Jesus, we are reminded that our dependency is on Him. Plant With Purpose is grateful for your partnership through prayer, which is foundational for the work taking place in the field. Please join with us tomorrow, the first Friday of the month, as Plant With Purpose’s international family prays in unity for the work being accomplished.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • The Christmas season. Pray that everyone has a blessed holiday and that all the Plant With Purpose Burundi participants remain strong and are blessed.

We pray for:

  • Peace and stability in neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo, specifically in Goma and the provinces of North and South Kivu.
  • Partnering farmers are working on soil barriers made of grasses, which will protect the land. Pray that this process goes smoothly and provides protection as crops grow.
  • Continued growth of the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) program.

Dominican Republic

We praise God for:

  • The graduates from the literacy groups in the communities of KM-61 and Zumbador.
  • The blessings and achievements that took place in 2012.

We pray for:

  • Those who were affected by flooding from Hurricane Sandy. Pray that those affected would be able to restore use of their homes and furnishings. Also pray for the recovery of crops that were affected by the storm.
  • The newly approved government tax reform. Pray that the impact would not broaden the gap between the very rich and the very poor in the country.
  • The farmers both in the central region and border regions, that they will be able to achieve their objective of establishing diverse agroforestry farms.
  • The Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in the border region. Pray that their capacity to implement the VSLA program would increase.

Haiti

We praise God for:

  • A fruitful and tremendous time in Thailand, at the Plant With Purpose International Meeting.

We pray for:

  • Comfort for Plant With Purpose Haiti staff and Bonny’s family following the unexpected death of our VSLA coordinator, Bonny.
  • Discernment and wisdom as we hire a new staff person in Fonds-Verrettes.
  • Safe travel and fruitful work for Technical Director Bob while he is in Haiti.
  • God to continue to direct the path of Elie, a former staff member who has just left Haiti to study in Spain.
  • Wisdom as Plant With Purpose Haiti strategizes to fulfill commitments made at the International Meeting.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • The safe travel of Country Director Luis Alberto and all those who participated in the International Meeting. We praise God for the opportunity and for the productive meeting.

We pray for:

  • The completion of the Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) cycle. Pray that the changes made this year to the microfinance program will be a blessing to the participants.
  • The new President of Mexico, that God would give him wisdom and lead him during his time in office. Also pray for the new municipal authorities in the areas where Plant With Purpose works. Pray that God would bless their work for the benefit of their communities.
  • God’s blessing on the community and families in Chiapas as we initiate projects and expansion into this region.

Tanzania

We praise God for:

  • A positive response from partnering groups towards implementing different projects, such as tree planting.
  • A successful International Meeting in Thailand and that all of the directors returned safely to their respective countries.

We pray for:

  • A successful week of tree planting as we wind up the first year of a group competition.
  • The recovery of Julius, who was in an accident while riding in public transportation. He seems to be doing well, but he is still recovering.

Thailand

We praise God for:

  • The fruitful International Meeting in Thailand, especially the safety of all participants.
  • A favorable response from newly target areas in Omkoi. Pray for the expansion strategy.

We pray for:

  • The Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) pilot project and for the safety of the field officer when traveling to partnering areas.
  • God to lead the Plant With Purpose team to be motivated and empowered to reach out to more people in Southeast Asia. Pray for the growth strategy and readiness to reach out to marginalized people in need.
  • Pray for a collaborative meeting with other organizations that will take place in March 2013 to discuss community-based holistic development for 20 villages. Plant With Purpose will lead the environmental development discussion.
  • The advocacy and policy change movement in northern Thailand for stateless and non-Thai citizens.
  • The political situation in Thailand as a result of the demonstrations that started on November 24th in Bangkok. Pray for reconciliation in Thailand.

USA

We praise God for:

  • The people who have graciously supported the work of Plant With Purpose this year.
  • The hard work of Plant With Purpose’s international and U.S. staff that has taken place around the world in 2012.
  • All of His blessings this year.

We pray for:

  • The Alternative Gift Markets taking place at churches this Christmas season. Pray that they will be successful.
  • Generosity during our year-end giving campaign, allowing us to meet our goals to  support the good work taking place in 278 communities worldwide.
  • A productive and safe trip for Becky and the Live: 58 team to the Dominican Republic.
  • Final preparations, fundraising, and execution of the Wings of Kilimanjaro event. Pray for the safety of the pilots and all those involved.
