I’m going to have to say that the second Sunday of March marks one of my favorite days of the year. It’s not quite the first day of Spring, but it might as well be. Daylight Savings Time is about as anticipated as my birthday every year. An extra hour of daylight at this time of year makes me grateful to live in a place like San Diego. Growing up in Arizona, I was deprived of this wonderful event that literally gives light to every state in the southwest except Arizona. (I’m sure they have a good reason. Regardless though, I appreciate it more now since I never had it).
As March 13th rings in Spring of 2011, it brings with it a couple of really exciting things (events) happening at Plant With Purpose that I want to share:
- Balboa Park Earth Day, April 17th
- Springtime of Hope- a special event with our Haiti and Burundi program directors, May 15th
If you haven’t been to the Earth Day event at Balboa Park in San Diego, then you’ve been missing out on the biggest Earth Day gathering in the world! It is incredible, and Plant With Purpose gets the chance to share its story with thousands of people! We’d love to have your help, have you stop by our booth and say hi, or even have you plant a tree for a dollar. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to help out on April 17th from 10 am-5 pm at one of San Diego’s most wonderful parks.
New this May, we’re hosting a special event that will bring two of Plant With Purpose’s incredible program directors from the Caribbean and East Africa to share with you first hand the stories of transformation that your support has helped make possible. Sunday, May 15th from 7:00pm-8:30, please join us at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana for Plant With Purpose’s Springtime of Hope special event. RSVP by calling our office at (800)633-5319.
