The people of Pang Dang Nok are new in town. In fact, the whole village was recently settled. As Burmese refugees, these hilltribe members rent their small plots of land at steep rates. The degraded soil is suitable for growing mangos and lychees, but few other crops thrive. Soil erosion, poor water quality, complex citizenship and land rights issues, and little access to credit have trapped the community in a seemingly hopeless cycle of poverty. But it doesn’t have to stay that way.

With your help, Plant With Purpose will equip farmers to establish sustainable hillside farms and home gardens that will provide much-needed food and income to rural families. Plant With Purpose’s innovative, integrated program in Pang Dang Nok provides farmers with the training and opportunities needed to transform and empower the newly formed community.
