What do you get when you combine the planet-loving sustainability vibes of Earth Day with the Christian values of community and compassion? Why, Plant With Purpose Day—and a reason to smile—of course! On July 29th Plant With Purpose’s partner organization in Thailand, Upland Holistic Development Project (UHDP), held the first ever Plant With Purpose Day in Northern Thailand!

This Earth-Day-Meets-Christmas event was organized by UHDP for the following purposes:

1. To unite their hearts and strength to help the earth by planting
trees and share thoughts and experiences in environmental preservation
and management.
2. To join a dedication of the ECHO Asia Seed Bank located at UHDP Center.
3. To build relationships among government, non profit organizations, churches, and local people.

The event was a huge success, and UHDP achieved all three of its goals when over 300 people—representing the government, schools, churches, non profits, and villages—participated in the day’s events. Participants encouraged environmental awareness and stewardship, celebrated the new seed bank and the rich biodiversity it represents, and strengthened new and existing partnerships between a wide range of groups and organizations.

Now, I don’t read Thai, but I’m loving the picture that promotes carpooling!
